As an avid gardener, I present the following metaphor:
Imagine that the conscious mind is the gardener. It plants the mental and emotional seeds into the soil, the garden; in this case the subconscious mind. The soil is the foundation and impacts how the seeds will grow. The quality of the soil is based on what has gone into it. One may have planted the seed of a thought, but it also places into the soil the emotions that surround the thought; be they of love or of fear.
The seeds you mentally and emotionally plant will germinate in this soil and grow into beautiful strong plants and flowers; creating a solid foundation for your hopes and dreams to be fulfilled, or an unstable foundation with your garden overrun with unwelcome weeds created by your negative and fear based thoughts and emotions. These then choke and prevent the life giving light from making your garden, your dreams, grow. Even a garden overgrown with weeds can be cultivated and nourished with attention.
Pay attention to your conscious thoughts and fill these thoughts and your garden with love and gratitude. Feed it with positive affirmations, placing your awareness on the underlying thoughts, embracing, adjusting and clearing them. In doing so, your subconscious and ‘sponsoring thoughts’ will react and adjust accordingly. ~ Hannelore
