Everything will be Okay
On a glorious sunny spring morning, my friend and I decided it was a perfect day for a drive. She was about to get into the passenger seat of my car when she paused, looked at me, and said, “I just heard my dad’s voice and he distinctly and clearly said, ‘Everything will be okay.’ I am not sure what that means.”
Knowing her father had passed away when she was a young child, I asked, “Are you sure it was your father’s voice? Did he say anything else?” She replied, “I just know and feel it was him. It was very calming and clear.” After a brief discussion about her father’s message, we continued to enjoy our day.
Traffic in both directions was reasonably busy when we pulled onto the freeway. Suddenly, a truck in the oncoming traffic veered out of control. The car behind the truck swerved into our lane, spun a couple of times, and headed straight for us. Simultaneously, numerous other vehicles swerved to avoid colliding as the car from behind the truck bore down on us.
As though viewing a movie one frame at a time, I noticed the female driver’s wide-eyed, open-mouthed fear as she gripped the steering wheel and prepared to hit us head-on.
Miraculously, our vehicles seemingly floated past each other in slow motion. As she passed by, I turned my head and saw the other woman’s face mere inches from mine. Like a perfectly choreographed dance, the other traffic righted direction without a single accident.
Once out of danger, time returned to normal speed, and I pulled off to the side of the road. For a few moments, we were both quiet. When she spoke, my friend told me that she hadn’t been afraid during the near pileup of vehicles because her father had calmly assured her that everything would be okay.
